life emptied my hands.
i did not know
what to do with them.
they knew how to reach,
to hold,
to carry.
but empty?
i mistook that
for having nothing
to give.
until someone
placed kindness there.
and someone else
placed prayer.
another
simply stayed.
and slowly
I understood :
receiving
was not the absence
of giving.
it was making room
for another person’s love
to become visible.
perhaps surrender
is sometimes this simple :
empty hands,
left open.
and grace
having somewhere
to land.
