Before we begin,
let us center ourselves.
Take a deep breath in …
and let it out.
And in this moment,
we hold in love
all those throughout our world
who are suffering.
May they be held
in the presence of Love,
strengthened by compassion,
and surrounded by peace.
And perhaps for us,
the invitation is :
Let go and Let God.
It sounds so simple.
Until there is actually
something
we have to let go of.
Recovery has a way
of reminding you
how little you control.
I can show up.
I can do the work.
I can take the next right step.
But I cannot command
my body to heal
when I want it to.
Perhaps
that is where surrender begins.
Not in giving up.
But in recognizing
the difference between
what is mine to do …
and what is mine
to release.
And sometimes,
what is mine
to receive.
Perhaps surrender
is this simple :
empty hands,
left open.
And grace
having somewhere
to land.
We hold tightly
to how we think
something should happen.
When it should happen.
What the answer
should look like.
A lot of ‘shoulds’ …
but what if
we loosened our grip?
What if the unexpected
opens a possibility
we simply cannot see yet?
Letting go
doesn’t mean
I stop participating
in my life.
I still show up.
I still take
the next step.
I simply release
my need to know
where it must lead.
The Psalmist asks :
“Open my eyes,
so that I may behold
wondrous things.”
Psalm 119:18
Maybe that, too,
is surrender.
Not …
give me exactly
what I asked for.
But …
help me see
what I could not see before.
What are you holding so tightly
that Spirit may be inviting you
to loosen your grip?
What if you did
what is yours to do …
and trusted God
with the rest?
Let us affirm …
I release what I cannot control.
I trust divine order
and divine timing.
I open my heart
to possibilities
I cannot yet see.
I do what is mine to do …
and let God
do the rest.
And so it is.
