Sitting Still

We spend so much of our lives moving.

Toward something.
Away from something.

Trying to hold on to what is already changing.

We mistake stillness for standing still.

Yet even in our quietest moments,
life continues.

The breath rises and falls.
Thoughts come and go.
The light shifts.
A moment becomes a memory.

Nothing truly stands still.

Perhaps stillness is not the absence of movement,
but the willingness to be present within it.

To sit with what is,
without reaching for what comes next.

To discover that we need not stop the river to feel its flow.

Sometimes
all it takes
is a cup of coffee
and a moment
to just be.
