The Rivers Don’t Argue

There are times in history when the waters grow cloudy.

Stories rise.
Voices compete.

What is true
becomes harder to see.

Some insist the water is clear.
Others say it cannot be trusted.

But the river does not argue.

It carries what has been stirred.

Given time,
the silt settles.

The river clears.

And what was always there
comes back into view.

Quietly.
