Who am I?

Have you ever looked closely at a tapestry?

I know, I know … what does it have to do with ‘who am I’.

Bear with me.

Each little thread is as important as the next and all together creates a masterpiece.

Our lives are like a tapestry, ever evolving … every thread of life experiences create the beauty we see.

So, who am I?

I am you and you are me.

A prayer

The ever-loving divine energy gives me wisdom, strength, courage and faith in the divine order. It’s infinite love and light flows through me, guiding my path.

I am one with this light and it’s healing vibrations work within me.

I know the divine flows through my ladies, giving them wisdom, strength, courage and faith guiding their paths.

I let go completely, relaxed in this truth. I feel calm, connected and grateful.

And so it is.

Gratitude

At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.  Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. – Albert Schweitzer

We are never alone.

Even in my darkest times when it was void of light … I wasn’t alone.

Others believed in me and stretch out their hand to offer me hope.

They would tell me … ‘One day you will see what I see in you.  I believe in you.’

Their light rekindled mine and allow me to see my path, my worth.

Thank you to my many teachers.

I have a profound deep sense of gratitude for your selfless service of loving kindness you gave to me.

As my light grows it touches another and to another … and back to me.

The light of life.

As a wise person once said … ‘Life is truly precious. It is a gift that is freely given.’

Have a bless day and know you are loved just as you are.  Please take care of you.

Birds

You can’t help that birds will fly over your head but you can stop them from building nests in your hair. – Unknown

Such a great quote.

It is such a good reminder not to let obsessive thoughts nest.

Sometimes I feel like I am in a scene from the Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds.

Way too many birds.

… for me my mind never stops and I find it so easy to latch on to a thought … it is like a broken record, replaying it over and over in my head.

In doing so it takes me away from what matters most … this precious moment, right here, right now with you.

However I have tools, I have a choice to accept the thought as it is and simply let it go.

How?

Just by labeling it … when a thought comes, I say ‘thinking’ and return back to my breath.

Oh, I do this so many times a day, but it is ok.

What matters most is progress over perfection.

As I do, I find peace and the gifts I receive being present are truly priceless.

So … my birds aren’t nesting, they are migrating.

Have a wonderful day this Memorial Day and know you are truly loved just as you.

Please take care of you.

Love

The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed. – Jiddu Krishnamurti

Reminds me of another saying I have heard during a transitional time in my life … ‘I am motivated by love.’

Love is truly powerful … it provides the courage and strength to overcome the obstacles on any path.

It offers me the truest light within.

Loving kindness starts with me.

When I place my hand over my heart and offer loving kindness to myself, it warms my soul and my light shines brighter.

May I be happy
May I be loved
May I be joyful
May I be at peace

I would not be at this place if it weren’t for those who crossed my path extending their loving kindness to me.

They shone their light when mine was dimmed and offered me hope.

So I offer back to them the light they freely shared with me.

May you be happy
May you be loved
May you be joyful
May you be at peace

And then to world …

There are so many that need loving kindness … it is transformational and begins with me.

May you be happy
May you be loved
May you be joyful
May you be at peace

For me I see it is like a circle, never-ending … when my light dims, I offer myself compassion and then extend outward … I get out of self and offer the priceless gift of love.

As it was said ‘… the greatest of these is love.’

Have a wonderful day and know you are loved just as you are.

Humility vs Ego

Humility, that low, sweet root, from which all heavenly virtues shoot. – Thomas Moore

I love the zen adage of ‘you gather more flowers with an open hand than a closed fist.’

It is a great illustration of humility vs ego.

Our ego forms from our attachments … to things, ideas and labels, we put on ourselves.

Before long my ego will build a fortress around me, shutting off the light of growth.

All the should’s become like bricks in the wall.

A wise person once said, ‘when we cease to learn it is time for us to pass on.’

Life is about growth and humility opens that door.

Some feel humility is a sign of weakness when it is quite the opposite.

It takes extreme courage to be vulnerable, to show our authentic self.

Just like the words of Pink Floyd … tear down the wall.

Let the light shine and grow.

Know you are truly loved JUST as you are.

R-e-a-l-l-y

Cosmic humor, especially about your own predicament, is an important part of you journey. – Ram Dass

Life is truly precious and there are so many things to be grateful for.

However, sometimes in the midst of chaos, that gratitude can be hard to find.

I know for me in a weird way when things keep piling up and piling up and I become so overwhelmed …

… I just laugh and lift up my arms to the universe and saying “r-e-a-l-l-y!!!”

In doing so, I just created space … that brief opening allows me the chance to catch my breath and know that this too shall pass.

By being present I am able to see that these moments are truly a stepping stone for greater growth.

Life truly is precious.

The Masterpiece

It’s when we step back from a single brushstroke, that we can see the whole painting.  – Tamara Levitt

The wise teacher shared the parable of the blind men and the elephant.

There are several versions of it; below is one by John Godfrey Saxe.

The Blind Men and the Elephant
John Godfrey Saxe

It was six men of Indostan, to learning much inclined,
who went to see the elephant (Though all of them were blind),
that each by observation, might satisfy his mind.

The first approached the elephant, and, happening to fall,
against his broad and sturdy side, at once began to bawl:
"God bless me! but the elephant, is nothing but a wall!"

The second feeling of the tusk, cried: "Ho! what have we here,
so very round and smooth and sharp? To me tis mighty clear,
this wonder of an elephant, is very like a spear!"

The third approached the animal, and, happening to take,
the squirming trunk within his hands, "I see," quoth he,
the elephant is very like a snake!"

The fourth reached out his eager hand, and felt about the knee:
"What most this wondrous beast is like, is mighty plain," quoth he;
"Tis clear enough the elephant is very like a tree."

The fifth, who chanced to touch the ear, Said; "E'en the blindest man
can tell what this resembles most; Deny the fact who can,
This marvel of an elephant, is very like a fan!"

The sixth no sooner had begun, about the beast to grope,
than, seizing on the swinging tail, that fell within his scope,
"I see," quothe he, "the elephant is very like a rope!"

And so these men of Indostan, disputed loud and long,
each in his own opinion, exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right, and all were in the wrong!

So, oft in theologic wars, the disputants, I ween,
tread on in utter ignorance, of what each other mean,
and prate about the elephant, not one of them has seen!

Isn’t it funny how you hear what you need to hear when you need it.

How many times have I assumed something from my limited perspective, only to see I know nothing.

And life is truly like a painting: every brush stroke builds on top of another to bring the masterpiece to life.

When I focus on just the one part of the whole … I truly miss the magnificent of its entirety.

Life is a journey … I just need to show up.
