i am trapped in the
tempest of your emotions
swirling around me, like
violent oceans
you say you love me from
head to toe
and then you hate me as if
i were your foe
don’t look at me with
contempt and disdain
i did not cause your pain
please don’t stay in the past,
for you will not last
i am not them —
the sound of the hymn
please find the light within
so you can shine again
i am here in plain sight
surrounding you in love and light
and yet…
your words pierce my heart so deep
that it makes my soul weep
i try my best to hold your hand
and for a sweet moment…
you understand
please free yourself
from this dark dank cave
find the love
that you so crave
i adore you
i truly do
this is my solemn psalm

Reflection
There are moments when love finds itself standing inside another’s storm — wanting to help, wanting to stay, yet feeling the toll of carrying what was never ours to hold.
This poem speaks for anyone who has loved deeply while learning the difference between compassion and self-erasure. It honors the ache of staying present without becoming lost, of offering light without demanding transformation.
Trapped is not a judgment.
It is a witness.
It reminds us that healing cannot be forced, and that love does not require absorption of another’s pain. Sometimes the most faithful act is to remain rooted in our own wholeness, trusting that each soul must find its way to the light from within.
This is a psalm for those who love with open hands — and are learning to breathe freely again.
I invite you to read the poem again.
